That figure is predicted to rise to 10 million, alongside a cumulative cost of $1 trillion, by 2050 if no action is taken. That’s a hundred times greater than the global economic threat of covid-19.

The NHS is set to miss two critical targets in tackling AMR – as outlined in a five-year AMR action plan unveiled by the government in 2019.
