LEX Diagnostics is developing a point-of-care PCR platform that is a major improvement in speed, cost and ease-of-use over all existing molecular diagnostics in the market today. Originally designed as an influenza & RSV platform specifically for use in primary care, LEX is playing its part in getting us through the current Covid pandemic with a combined flu/Covid test providing an answer in around 5 minutes – even for low viral load samples. The entire process from swab elution through nucleic acid extraction and amplification occurs in a single sealed cartridge greatly reducing the risk of infection and the user training required to obtain a reliable result.

The same technology that enables the dramatic improvement in speed also reduces the cost of both reader and cartridge which allows us to challenge the dominance of inaccurate antigen tests in cost focussed settings. The demand for this product is strong and we are hiring talented individuals to join us particularly in R&D and ramp-up to volume manufacture.
