Amanda Doyle has been appointed the new NHSE national director for primary care and community services, leaving her role as NHSE north-west regional director which she has occupied since last summer. She succeeds Ian Dodge, who has been in post for eight years.

Amanda will work alongside NHSE COO David Sloman and, according to NHS CEO Amanda Pritchard, will be ‘bringing primary and community care into line with other NHS operational delivery areas’.

Prior to her role at NHSE, Amanda was the Co-Chair of NHS Clinical Commissioners from 2013 to 2018 and has a wealth of experience as a GP, working for over twenty years in a practice in Blackpool.

In the same announcement, it was revealed that Chris Hopson, who has been NHS Provider’s CEO for 10 years, has been hired as NHSE’s new chief strategy officer.

Amanda Pritchard commented further, saying: ‘These colleagues and their teams, alongside everyone in our organisation, will play a pivotal role this year and beyond as we embed the new Integrated Care Boards, and as we come together with NHS Digital and Health Education England.’
