BIVDA cited in Health and Social Care Committee’s Future Cancer Inquiry findings
The Health and Social Care Committee have been undertaking the Future Cancer Inquiry since March 2023, examining how to improve the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of cancer. As Parliament has been dissolved, the committee released their interim findings.
Chair Steve Brine Steve Brine MP wrote to the Secretary of State for Health, setting out five key areas for action and highlighted the committee's key concerns.
BIVDA were heavily engaged with the committee, and are quoted in the report as calling for better support for innovation and adoption by “introducing key performance indicators to monitor implementation, and providing accessible and appropriate education for clinicians, patients and decision makers."
Failure to act in the short-term could have grave consequences in the future, the committee warned strongly. You can read the full findings here.
We look forward to continue working with the Health and Social Care Committee on relevant inquiries once Parliament returns and new committee members are elected.
